Reach into your home network from anywhere in the world
Reach Anywhere is a switch. Flip it, and this Mac joins a private tunnel with your other Macs and your home network, as if you never left the house, from a hotel, an airplane, or a phone hotspot.
What you get
Your Macs at full quality. Reach sessions run at full home-network quality (60 fps, crisp text) instead of relayed quality, because your Macs talk directly across the tunnel.
Apple's Screen Sharing at its best. Mac-to-Mac, Apple's own Screen Sharing works across the tunnel at High Performance quality, the same mode it only offers on a local network.
Your home network answers. Devices on your home network (printers, smart home gear, your router) are reachable through the tunnel, exactly as if your laptop were on the home Wi-Fi.
Turn it on
Click the Reach icon in the menu bar and flip Reach Anywhere (it also lives in Settings ▸ Remote Access).
The first time, macOS asks once to Allow in the Background. That's the whole setup. No password, ever.
The card shows your private address (like
10.77.0.3) when you're on. Flip it off and the tunnel is gone; nothing else on your
Mac changes.
Questions
- Is my traffic private?
- Yes. The tunnel is your own encrypted private network: modern WireGuard-class encryption, your keys, your relay. Only your rail traffic enters the tunnel; everything else on the Mac uses its normal connection untouched (no browsing slowdown, no DNS changes).
- How do I print to my home printer while I'm away?
- Add the printer once by its home address (System Settings ▸ Printers ▸ Add ▸ IP), and it works from anywhere after that.
- What happens if I flip it on while I'm at home?
- Nothing breaks: Reach notices you're already on the home network and leaves your local traffic alone. The tunnel simply stands by for your other Macs.
- Does it slow my internet down?
- No. Only traffic to your Macs and home network rides the tunnel; everything else takes its normal path.
- Which Macs can use it?
- Every Mac signed in to your Reach account. Flip the switch on each Mac you want on the network.
